An opportunity has arisen to join the Neurovascular team as a nurse specialist working within the multi-disciplinary team to care for and manage patients with a neurovascular diagnosis.
The role will cover inpatient and outpatient support, symptom management and follow up and require strong working links with the full MDT. The role of the nurse specialist is very rewarding having involvement with patients and families at every stage of their recovery, and requires a motivated individual with good communication and time management skills.
There will be an opportunity to develop skills to independently run nurse led clinics, deal with symptom management and clinical concerns that come via the helpline, and feedback MDT outcomes. A degree of autonomous working will be encouraged. There will also be opportunities to be involved in teaching and audit.
There is evidence to support the benefit of such roles improving communication, reducing complaints and length of stay, while supporting non neurosurgical and community health care providers in caring for neurovascular patients, resulting in better patient reported outcomes.
The Nurse Specialist will report to the Lead Neurovascular CNS, but will also work closely with the Neurovascular Neurosurgeons and Radiologists to deliver and plan care.
